Pu'er tea is a specialty of Yunnan Province, China, and is renowned worldwide for its unique flavor and health benefits. It belongs to the category of fermented teas and is divided into two types: raw tea and ripe tea. Raw tea undergoes natural fermentation, has a strong tea character, a fresh taste, and a certain bitterness, but it gradually becomes mellow over time. Ripe tea, on the other hand, undergoes artificial pile fermentation, has a mild tea character, a smooth taste, and a unique aged aroma. Pu'er tea not only has health functions such as lowering lipids, losing weight, and aiding digestion, but also, due to its characteristic of "getting better with age," it has become a popular choice for tea collection. Its history is long, dating back to the Tang Dynasty, and it was renowned throughout the country as tribute tea during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Nowadays, Pu'er tea has become an important part of Chinese tea culture and is deeply loved by tea lovers both at home and abroad.

Is Pu'er tea black tea?

No. Pu-erh tea belongs to the category of dark tea, which is a post-fermented tea. Black tea is a fully fermented tea. The two have different production processes and quality characteristics.

Can drinking Pu'er tea help with weight loss?

Pu-erh tea has certain lipid-lowering and weight-loss effects, but it is not a special medicine. Its weight-loss principle is mainly to promote fat metabolism and inhibit fat absorption. It needs to be consumed for a long time, combined with a reasonable diet and exercise to achieve ideal results.

How to brew Pu'er tea?

Pu'er tea brewing pays attention to water temperature, time and tea-water ratio. Generally, boiling water at 100°C is used, and after a quick rinse, the steeping time is adjusted according to personal taste. It is recommended to use a purple clay pot or a gaiwan to brew, which can better reflect the flavor of Pu'er tea.

The older the Pu'er tea, the more fragrant it is. Is it better the longer it is stored?

Not exactly. Pu'er tea does have the saying "the older, the more fragrant", but not indefinitely. Under proper storage conditions, raw tea generally reaches its best drinking period in 10-20 years, while ripe tea can be enjoyed in 5-10 years. Beyond this time, the quality of the tea may decline.

What do the numbers "7572", "7542", etc. on Pu'er tea cakes represent?

This is the Puer tea mark, which represents information such as the tea's recipe, grade, and manufacturer. For example, "7572" represents the recipe from 1975, grade 7 tea leaves, and produced by Menghai Tea Factory.
